Located 17 miles north of Salamanca, it is one of many castles in the region. It was previously owned by local nobility and is now a nationally protected site. Guests can dine in the former dungeons and explore the gardens. Legend says the castle's name comes from a former owner, the Bishop of Santiago, who stayed there with his secret lover. The couple is said to haunt the castle after being forced to part by the church.
